This high-end production had me both ROFLing and open-mouthed at the same time. Laughing because it is very funny and open-mouthed both at the clever way it is executed and the implications it brings to the future of film making.

Playing on such current trends as US politics, conspiracy theories and P Diddy’s misfortunes, “Lies Wide Shut” spoofs Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut” with a cast of the most powerful people on this planet (that we know of).
What surprised me was the realism of these deep fakes. I think that the production values have surpassed anything I have seen yet on AI video production so far and makes me wonder how you can prompt the machines with such precision.
Kubrick’s trademark symmetrical composition and the set design from the film are used to great effect by the directors to draw you in to this world we all half believe exists.
What scares me are the ethical ramifications of the kind of realism that muddies the water between illusion and reality. Can this kind of technology be used to overturn elections or even instigate a world war?
